FC Saint Eloi Lupopo head coach Guy Bukasa has delved into what it would it take for them to avoid an Orlando Pirates comeback in South Africa.
The DRC outfit shocked the continent by beating last season’s CAF Champions League semi-finalists 3-0, ending Pirates’ 11-match unbeaten run. The Sea Robbers last conceded three goals when they lost to Pyramids 3-2 in the CAFCL semi-final in Egypt.
Pirates have all to play for this coming weekend as they need to score at least three unanswered goals to take the game to penalties or win by four goals margin to advance to the group stages.
Bukasa admitted that Pirates are a good side, even in DRC they played well but the plan to hit them on the counter-attack worked very well.
The 38-year-old mentor stated that they need to defend well and try to catch them on the counter-attack in the return leg in South Africa again.
“We’ll analyse this match and define the strategy for the return leg later this week,” Bukasa told the media, according to FootRDC.
“They still caused us problems. We need to pin them down well to respond to each difficulty. It won’t be the same type of match, but they’ll have possession like here.
“It’s up to us to find the right formula so they don’t pose a threat.”
