Mammila: I’m Going To Make It Ugly For Everyone At Home

Anyone who is thinking is going to take all three points against Chippa United at Nelson Mandela Stadium, better think again, warned club coach Morgan Mammila.

This after Chippa came from behind to draw with Orlando Pirates at the same venue on Tuesday in the DStv Premiership clash, with the Soweto giants coach Jose Riveiro calling the game ugly and sounded not in good space.

The Bucs coach said the game was broken down several times and Chippa had no intentions to play but to break their rhythm and play on the counterattack.

Goodman Mosele, on loan from Pirates, turned and fired an equaliser to cancel Bandile Shandu’s first-half goal, with Chippa scoring its first goal this season after drawing the first two matches.

They earned the draw despite having no strikers fit and available after Menzi Ndwandwe, Diego Appollis and Elmo Kambindu all picked up injuries, with Mammila predicting that they will be out for some time.

But Mammila said they are still going to make it tough for many teams without strikers.

“I would make a plan, I’m a man of a plan,” said Mammila of having no strikers available at the moment.

“I will make a plan for the next match. Pound for pound again, no parking the bus, I’m not a fan of parking the bus. I’m just here to make it difficult for any team that comes to PE.

“You are not going to come here with a smile, I want all the teams when they go back home they must go back with ugly faces.”

He said Mamelodi Sundowns, who are their next opponents on Sunday at the venue and sitting on top of the table with nine points after three matches, will have a plan in place to stop the Tshwane giants, who routed Golden Arrows 4-0 at home on Tuesday.

Sundowns, since Rulani Mokwena took over in October last year, have not lost a league match since September last year when they went down to SuperSport United.

It is 26 league matches without a loss, having won 20 of those games.

Interestingly, since Chippa first met Sundowns on 8 August 2012, the Tshwane giants are yet to suffer a loss to them either in the league game.

But Mammila said they will plan correctly against Sundowns, who “play differently to what they encountered against Pirates.”

“Sundowns are different,” added Mammila. “Sundowns are not quicker. They play, they invite you, they play behind you, we know how they play.

“From Wednesday, we are planning for Sundowns and we are going to adjust our training that suits us and also suit how to structure against our opponents.”
