Mammila & Pablo Franco Exchange Words

It was not all smiles at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium with Pablo Franco Martin and Morgan Mammila exchanging a war of words after AmaZulu and Chippa United’s 1-1 draw, where Chippa ended with nine men and was full of controversy.

After the match, which saw disallowed goals, a controversial own goal by Veli Mothwa, and two red cards for Chippa, Mammila and Martin exchanged words, something that upset both coaches.

Mammila told SuperSport that the Spaniard insulted him after the game.

“I’m just disappointed when a coach from an opponent insults at me,” Mammila told SuperSport.

“I’m too old to be insulted by another coach. But that’s another story for another day.

“I was talking to the referees, then, I’m even ashamed to say what he said on TV. But I was not taught like I should say the same thing.

“My grandmother would be angry at me if I say those kinds of words. She taught me very well. So where it comes from if those kinds of words you can say to everyone, but I’m just disappointed.”

But Martin dismissed Mammila’s comments, saying that it is the Chippa United who is disrespecting the coaching fraternity.

“No, I didn’t insult him,” Martin responded to SuperSport.

“I think he’s the one who is not respecting many of us with all his statements, when I’m coming here and you are recording the conversation, I think it’s a lack of respect, and especially when he’s accusing people of things that he is doing because probably they are not playing the best football in this league.

“They are the ones who are not getting into risks, playing on the ball. And from there even the numbers can speak for themselves.

“Then when the game is over and you are attacking one of the players, the only thing I said is that he should keep quiet and then nothing else because it’s over.

“So from there, to say keep quiet, to think that it’s an insult.

“I think for me, it’s much more unrespectful, what he’s doing with many of us. Because this is not a circus. This is no joke. Here, we are working hard, many coaches, and we deserve a lot of respect.”
