Marumo Gallants were crowned 2025 Cultural Urban Festival Africa (CUFA) Cup winners after defeating Siwelele FC 4-3 in a penalty shootout at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein on Sunday afternoon.
The match had ended 0-0 in 90 minutes as both sides failed to cancel each other out but it was Bahlabane Ba Ntwa who emerged victorious in the spot kicks.
This was somewhat redemption for Gallants who lost 4-3 to Kaizer Chiefs in the inaugural two-team tournament which has since replaced the annual Macufe Cup.
With Amakhosi unable to participate in this season’s tourney due to their upcoming fixture schedule both on the domestic and continental front, Gallants and Siwelele battled it out in the Bloemfontein Derby.
This was also revenge for Alexandre Lafitte’s charges who recently lost their Betway Premiership clash against Siwelele narrowly going down 1-0.
