Mayo Makes Bullish Chiefs Claim

Kaizer Chiefs striker Khanyisa Mayo has made a bullish claim that his side are not underdogs in the CAF Confederation Cup match against Zamalek.

On Saturday, Amakhosi welcome the White Knights who have won the CAF Champions League five times and this particular competition twice in the last seven seasons. Chiefs lost their opening Group D match 2-1 to Al Masry while their visitors defeated ZESCO United 1-0 in the pool opener.

Ahead of their meeting at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday, Mayo, who is making a return from injury said his side has the biggest history in Africa and the two clubs aren’t that far apart.

“Not to say we are underdogs,” Mayo answered iDiski Times at the pre-match press conference.

“We have competed in CAF, so I think there is experience that comes with it for the players to gain each and every game or each and every time we qualify for the competition.

“So, I wouldn’t say we are underdogs, we have much biggest history on the continent.

“So, I think on the level that they are on and the level that we are on I wouldn’t say it’s much more different.”
