Middendorp – Lots Of Coaches Talk Nonsense

Cape Town Spurs head coach Ernst Middendorp has insisted a lot of coaches in South Africa are just “talking nonsense”, while he is aiming to improve his players.

Spurs kept their hopes of survival alive after a 1-0 win over Royal AM at Harry Gwala Stadium. They were awarded a penalty in the 64th minute and Tanzanian defender Gadiel Kamagi stepped up and converted.

The Cape Town-based side reduced the gap between themselves and 15th-placed Richards Bay to five points, but the latter are still playing on Wednesday.

After the match, Middendorp explained the importance of improving players.

“It’s a progress. I said it before, a training session when you come out a game of Polokwane City your session elements where not right but we try to work in training session, we design a training session,” Middendorp told the media.

“There are lot of people here in the coaching area, a number of so-called coaches that they just talk, they just talk nonsense, they talk something invaluable.

“It’s not what we used to do in the from the technical side, we just try to design, try to find technically to correct players, here and there change a little bit from the system side, the reference point, very crucial but it’s all about improvement.

“Every training session you should work on getting better and to improve.”

Middendorp’s words come just a few days after Morgan Mammila had a slight dig at the former Kaizer Chiefs coach, saying “there is a coach who’s struggling to reach 18 points”.

Coincidently, Middendorp and Spurs reach 18 points on Tuesday, but remain at the bottom, five points behind Richards Bay with 23 points.
