Mohafe Aims For CAFCC Spot

Polokwane City head coach Phuti Mohafe is aiming for the CAF inter-club spot, as his side stayed in fourth spot on the log.

Following a crucial point away from home for Rise and Shine, Mohafe said it with his chest out that they’re gunning for that CAF inter-club spot – either the CAF Champions League or the CAF Confederations Cup.

City missed an opportunity to go into third place following a last-minute 1-1 draw against Stellenbosch on Friday night at Danie Craven Stadium.

Despite being four league matches without a win, Mohafe still believes they can fight for that third and second spot and qualify for the CAF inter-club competition. Rise and Shine find themselves in fourth place, with 31 points after 20 games – three ahead of Stellies, who have two games in hand.

“Anything is possible in life, so if that appears to happen then let it be. Let’s go and fight as Polokwane City,” Mohafe told the media.

“No one can do that if we can’t do that and we will never know, if we can’t try it so rather go and try. We see where we fail and we see if we progress.

“Honestly speaking, last season we surprised ourselves when we qualified for the top eight. Even now, we are so surprised that we fighting for the third spot and I think with us being there that triggers the mentality of saying you can do it [qualify for CAF], then why not, let’s try to fight for it.”
