Wydad Athletic Club coach Rulani Mokwena has given an update on the club’s interest in former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Bongani Zungu.
Zungu, 31, has been a free agent since being released by Sundowns and there have been talk of a potential reunion at the Botola Pro giants.
Mokwena insisted that he is keen on reuniting with the former Masandawana talent, but also labelled the situation as “complicated”.
“I can speak about Bongani Zungu because he’s not attached at the moment,” he explained during a press conference with the South African Football Journalist’s Association.
“There is a huge possibility… I’m a big Bongani Zungu fan, I think everybody knows. I love Bongani Zungu as a person because this is what makes him a top football player.
“He’s an incredible human being- we just have to see because it’s a bit more complicated than what people think but it is a big possibility. It is something that I can say to you guys we are considering.”
Mokwena, though, refused to address rumours about Percy Tau, who is still on the books of Al Ahly, while he also remained uncommitted whether other PSL players would arrive at the club.
“Will we see South African players? I don’t know,” he added briefly.
