Kaizer Chiefs’ Marketing and Commercial Director, Jessica Motaung, has been appointed vice-president of the African Clubs Association (ACA) at the launch in Cairo on Thursday.
The newly formed association led by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Dr Patrice Motsepe has been outlined as a way to protect and promote the interest of football clubs across the continent, to improve it’s professionalism.
Ahead od the launch, CAF stated they would look at the following points as the main interests of the ACA, which will be headed up by Young African President Eng. Hersi Said and Motaung as second in command.
- ensure that African Football Clubs are commercially viable, globally competitive and profitable
- ensure that Referees, Match Commissioners and VAR operators are respected, credible, independent and world-class
- build partnerships with sponsors, the private sector and Governments to build stadiums that comply with CAF and FIFA standards and other football infrastructure and facilities in each of the 54 CAF Member Associations
- develop African youth talent, academies for Boys and Girls and improve the quality of African Club football to be world-class
Speaking after her appointment with an African football journalist Osasu Obayiuwana, Motaung confirmed her role in the latest appointment.
“Well a very significant moment, not just for Kaizer Chiefs but for African football, I’m proud to be here and serve African football in any way I can,” Motaung said in conversation with the Nigerian journalist.
“I think my strength is my commercialisation of the game, that’s important, looking at where African clubs are and the opportunity to get corporates and financing in the game, I will work closely with the board and President [Motsepe] to do it.”
