Msimango Reveals Which Chiefs Players Helped Him Settle In

New Kaizer Chiefs centre-back Given Msimango has spoken about the warm reception he received at the club, revealing which four senior players helped him to settle in quickly.

Msimango is one of the seven new acquisitions announced by the club earlier this window.

The former TS Galaxy captain signed a four-year deal with Amakhosi and he is currently with the team in their pre-season camp in Mpumalanga.

The defender told the club’s YouTube channel that he felt very happy with the reception he’s received by his new club and management.

“Being in pre-season with the club has been nothing but fantastic. You know the guys have welcomed me with open arms, management has been warm to me and I think that’s very important for a player to feel welcome in a space, to feel wanted so that you can perform at your outmost best and settle in very quickly,” said Msimango.

“This is a massive club so it’s very important that you adapt as soon as possible so that you can start performing to the best of your abilities.

“The senior players have played a massive role in my induction in the club. They have shown me the ropes. The likes of Itu [Khune], Keagan [Dolly] even Brandon Petersen, you know Bruce [Bvuma] as well, I consider him as a senior member in the club.

“You know just filling you in about the culture of the club, what goes on, how it works, you know the production, everything you get within the club, you get the kind of feel of what you are in for and what to expect.”

Msimango also spoke about the high standards at his new side, saying the focus on data and small details will make players better before pleading for patience from the fan base.

“What has been outstanding, a key component is the standards you know. When I say cut above the rest, that’s what I associate Kaizer Chiefs with,” he added.

“Not only the badge but the way they do things, the way they run things on and off the pitch, down from your health, your diet, to your performance on the pitch. You know the detail that they focus on, sprint distances, top speed, all those small details that contribute to a person’s performance, they focus on.

“That has been for me the stand out because it gives me the opportunity to track my data to see where I can improve and get better as a player.

“Sanibonani Amakhosi faithful, I’d like to thank you for your continued support, the love that you have shown for the club, the love that you’ve shown for the players on and off the field.

“I urge you to continue showing your support to the guys. What I can say to you or the message that I can provide you with is that this season we are going to provide you with wonderful moments, unforgettable moments.

“We are working hard here at camp to bring back the glory days for the clubs and all we ask of you is to be patient and continue supporting the club and showing your love like you always did.

Chiefs are scheduled play Young Africans in a pre-season friendly in Tanzania this coming weekend.
