New Striker Confirms Pirates Transfer – Report

Cameroonian forward Marou Souaibou has confirmed his transfer to Orlando Pirates from Coton Sport.

Souaibou, 22, was in Cameroon’s World Cup squad but didn’t feature for the Indomitable Lions.

The striker’s deal was initially reported by kick442.com and confirmed by himself on social media on Wednesday.

“Greetings fatherland, I will sign for Orlando Pirates in the month of January and continue my journey in the South African first division,” he stated, as per kick442.

“It’s a new adventure for us and I thank you all for the love and support.”

His move was put in jeopardy when a confidential letter from Pirates to Coton Sport, which discussed the details of the deal, with Pirates ready to transfer $200,000 (R3.5 million) to the Cameroonian side who also had a 15% sell-on fee percentage, was leaked on social media, which upset the Buccaneers and his agency, as per Mike Makaab.

However, he seems now ready to travel to South Africa ahead of his imminent move. His arrival at the Buccaneers would mean they will need to let go of one of their other foreign players to free up space to register the Cameroonian striker.

Souaibou scored 30 goals in 63 appearances for Coton Sport over the last two seasons and was named Cameroonian Footballer of the Year in October.
