Ntseki Reacts To Bafana Win

Coach Molefi Ntseki was full of praise for his charges who executed their plan to the tee as they overcame Egypt in the second leg of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers on Sunday night.

Bafana Bafana came into the tie having played to a 1-1 draw in the first leg and stamped their authority in Ismaila by beating the home side 3-1 to win the two-legged tie 4-2 on aggregate and progress to the final qualifying round.

Captain Neo Maema, Yandisa Mfolozi and Siphelele Luthuli all recorded their names on the scoresheet with the former Kaizer Chiefs mentor applauding his players for unsettling the home side by scoring first.

“I think we won the game from our training sessions because the plan we had really worked out,” Ntseki said after the match.

“The players managed to implement it, and they showed a high level of technical endurance.

“That is the ability to execute the technical plan for the longest time in the game, and I think they did that. What also really worked for us today was to score early, to unsettle Egypt in their home ground. Also, the discipline that we had without the ball, I think was the best that one can look back at.

“Also, the players who were on the bench, players who were in the grandstand, I think they really gave the support we needed.”

South Africa next face Malawi in May 2025 with the winner in the final qualifying round sealing passage to the CHAN tournament.
