Official: Bafana International Moves To UAE

Bafana Bafana midfielder Thibang Phete has joined newly promoted UAE Pro League side Al Bataeh.

Phete, 28, left Belenenses Sad in Portual after his contract had expired and now moved to the Gulf after eight years in Portugal.

The Kimberly-born talent joins compatriot Thulani Serero in the UAE, as confirmed by his new club Al Bataeh.

The former Stars of Africa product moved to Portugal in 2014, joining GD Tourizense. He also featured for Vit. Guimaraes and Familicao during his time in Portugal.

Phete made the most recent Bafana squad of Hugo Broos, featuring for 90 minutes in the 2-1 defeat to Morocco, which was his fourth appearance for the men’s national team.
