Official: Spurs Announce New Coach

Cape Town Spurs have officially announced former Kaizer Chiefs and Moroka Swallows coach Ernst Middendorp as their new coach.

After 11 matches with just one win, Spurs have finally made a decision to replace Shaun Bartlett, whom they let go at the beginning of October.

After the exit of Bartlett, Sean Connor was appointed as a Technical Director, while Vasili Manousakis was roped in as assistant coach.

On Thursday, iDiski Times reported that Middendorp topped Spurs’ head coach list and on Friday, they unveiled the German mentor during a press conference as their new head coach.

The Urban Warriors managed to collect their first three points of the campaign when they beat Orlando Pirates by 2-1 at DHL Stadium in the beginning of November.

But since then they’ve lost their next two games against Chiefs and relegation-rivals Richards Bay.

The appointment of Middendorp comes with a mandate of keeping Spurs in the the top flight, with the club trusting the German tactician to use his experience to turn things around.
