Marumo Gallants have announced the aquisiton of Moroka Swallows’ DStv Premiership status after approval from the Premier Soccer League.
The Motsepe Foundation Championship side bought Swallows and will now feature in the top flight, with home games set to be played in Bloemfontein.

Swallows, who started 2023/24 with renewed ambition after reclaiming the full Moroka Swallows name, had experienced financial troubles from December last year, which led to a player exodus and also the departure of Steve Komphela.
They did survive relegation, but club officials confirmed that various attempts to secure sponsorships failed.
As a consequence, Abrahm Sello chipped in and got his Gallants franchise back into the top flight, just over a year after it was relegated at the end of 2022/23.
“Following the final approval of the Premier Soccer League, (PSL) today, Marumo Gallants Football Club officially confirms the acquisition of Moroka Swallows Football Club,” the club said via a statement.
“Gallants will take over Swallows with immediate effect. The club also confirms that home games for the upcoming season will be played in Bloemfontein, Free State.
“Gallants will provide more details of plans once staff, technical teams and players have been addressed.
“At this stage the club will not be issuing further comments or taking interviews – a date will be communicated for a press briefing that will take place shortly.”
It remains to be see what happens Gallants NFD franchise.
