Pirates Book Their Place In Third Consecutive Nedbank Cup Final

Orlando Pirates are on course for a record-breaking three-peat of the Nedbank Cup after sealing their place in the final with a 1-0 win over Marumo Gallants at Orlando Stadium.

In an otherwise quiet opening half between two contrasting sides, Pirates beat Gallants 8-1 and lost 2-0 in the league fixtures this season, it was a difficult one to predict.

But when Kabelo Dlamini opened the scoring with a well-worked team goal, with the assist coming from Patrick Maswanganyi just inside the area before his pint point effort into the bottom right corner of Washington Arubi’s net.

Pirates, who booked their place in the last four of the CAF Champions League earlier this week at the expense of MC Alger, flexed their depth by Melusi Buthelezi and Paseka Mako coming into the team for Sipho Chaine and Relebohile Mofokeng, and they managed see the game out in front of a packed eSgodini.

The will now face the winner between Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs in the final of the South African domestic cup competition.
