Orlando Pirates booked their spot in the Nedbank Cup Last 16 after thumping Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila 4-1 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
Head coach Ouaddou Abdeslam rang five changes as Melusi Buthelezi replaced Sipho Chaine in goals while Andre De Jong, Mpho Chabatsane Deon Hotto and Masindi Nemtajela all started as well.
Pirates were 1-0 to the good just 10 minutes in with Andre De Jong neatly tucking away his penalty after Oswin Appollis had been fouled in the box.
It was 2-0 in the 17th minute through Thalente Mbatha’s well-struck long-range shot.
Substitute Patrick Maswanganyi made an immediate impact upon his introduction in the second period with Pirates’ third making it 3-1.
Yanela Mbuthuma failed to complete the rout with just over 15 minutes left on the clock with his effort from close range saved point-blank by the TTM goalkeeper Lebohang Mohale.
Maswanganyi was denied his brace of the afternoon as Mohale tipped his belter over the crossbar.
In the 90th minute, Sipho Mbule’s rocket from outside the box made it 4-1 as Ouaddou’s charges did enough in the end to progress to the next round.
