Orlando Pirates have extended the stay of midfielder Makhelene Makhaula despite his lack of game-time, iDiski Times has learnt.
A week ago, this publication reported that Buccaneers where yet to decide on the future of Makhaula after a year with the club.
The Kagiso-born midfielder has been struggling with game-time at Pirates since arriving from AmaZulu in January 2022.
The former Usuthu player made four appearances this season for the Sea Robbers and won the MTN8 with the side, which was his second trophy after winning Nedbank Cup last campaign – a trophy he had also lifted with Free State Stars in 2017/18.
Information received by this publication confirmed that Pirates exercised the option on Makhaula’s contract and he will stay at Orlando Stadium until June 2025.
He is expected to continue fighting for his place with the likes in the starting line-up of Thabang Monare, Siphelo Baloni, Miguel Timm and Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo.
