Pitso Linked With New Job

Three-time CAF Champions League winning coach Pitso Mosimane is on the shortlist of Pyramids FC who have become unhappy with recent results of head coach Jamie Pacheco.

Mosimane has been linked with the Egyptian giants on several occasions, and sources indicate he’d be open to the move, provided the same investment remains consistent.

He’s made no secret that a couple of boxes need to be ticked to get into management again, his technical team, a defined sporting project to chase silverware, domestic and continental and a long-term vision of success.

Currently, besides Al Ahly and Mamelodi Sundowns, Pyramids is likely the only African club within the financial standing able to propose an enticing package for the South African and his technical team – who’ve tasted the riches of the Gulf in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates over the last year and a half.

“I have my generals who are [always] around me,” Mosimane said when asked about his potential next move after Al Wahda, in a recent interview with the Safja.

“So, if there’s any movement, we have a bigger discussion. I’m the leader, I’m the face of the programme because I’m the head coach.

“But I’m not the only guy who decides we should go here or there. What if MT Sports decides to send CVs to strategic places? I have to remove myself from there. If they want to do that on our behalf, they can.”

Reports in Egypt suggest Mosimane and Carlos Quieroz are among the names being considered within the club’s hierarchy, as they look to end Al Ahly and Zamalek’s domestic dominance – while also challenging for the CAF Champions League title.

This comes after they dropped points in the Egyptian Premier League title race, lost to Sundowns and Nouadibou in the Group A Champions League campaign already and were most recently knocked out of the Egyptian Super Cup in the semi-final.
