Pitso Names Al Ahly Squad For Raja Clash

Pitso Mosimane has named his Al Ahly squad to face Raja Casablanca in the CAF Champions League quarter-final.

Al Ahly will host the three-time champions at the WE Al-Ahly Stadium in Cairo on Saturday. The two heavyweights of African football already met in the CAF Super Cup in December last year, when Mosimane’s men beat Moroccan giants after penalties.

The South African has a clean bill of health at his disposal for the first leg, with Salah Mohsen and Ahmed Nabil recovering from their recent injuries, and Mohamed Magdy Afsha also rejoining the training this week.

Raja enter the game in fine form, having lost just one of their 14 games this year, while Al Ahly have had a packed schedule with 19 games and lost five of those.

Two of those defeats came against DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns, which resulted in Al Ahly finished second in Group A, while Raja topped AmaZulu’s group after picking up five wins and one loss.

Here is Al Ahly’s full squad:

Goalkeepers: Mohamed El Shenawy, Aly Lotfy, Moustafa Shobier

Defenders: Karim Fouad, Mohamed Abdelmonem, Mahmoud Metwally, Yasser Ibrahim, Ayman Ashraf, Mohamed Hany, Mahmoud Wahid, Ali Maaloul

Midfielders: Hamdy Fathy, Aliou Dieng, Amr El Soulia, Mohamed Magdy “Afsha”, Hussien El Shahat, Walid Soliman, Taher Mohamed Taher, Mohamed Mahmoud, Ahmed Abdelkader

Forwards: Hossam Hassan, Mohamed Sherif, Salah Mohsen, Percy Tau, Luis Miquissone
