Rama Breaks Silence Of Being Told By AmaZulu To Go And Come Back

AmaZulu defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele has broken his silence about the ordeal of being told to leave the camp by former coach Romain Folz and then come back.

Mphahlele, as it was revealed by iDiski Times, was told his contract will not be renewed by AmaZulu when it expires at the end of the season.

He was informed by the management along with Keagan Buchanan and Lehlohonolo Majoro that their contracts won’t be renewed.

That was Folz’s decision at that time and since being removed from the club to work as the president’s advisor and Ayanda Dlamini taking over, fortunes changed for Mphahlele and Buchanan.

They were both recalled and were part of the side that drew with Cape Town City and lost to SuperSport United in the two matches that Dlamini has been in charge of.

AmaZulu, during the media day, informed the media the focus must be on the game against Sekhukhune United who they are hosting on Saturday and Mphahlele shouldn’t be asked other things, but the former Mamelodi Sundowns captain said to the media that they can ask him anything to set the record straight.

“I’m a professional, I just do my job and I’m getting paid to play football,” said Mphahlele.

“That’s what I do, and that’s why I never spoke about anything to anyone and my job is to play football.

“I don’t want to talk about who did what said what – my job is to play. I’m going to do that as long as I’m still here.”

Caretaker Dlamini said he needed both players’ leadership looking at the position they are in, lying 12th in the table with 29 points after 26 matches, losing three of the last five matches to trigger the deployment of Folz.

“Even with the previous coach [Folz, I didn’t say anything to the media], we are all important,” said Mphahlele.

“Keagan is important, everyone is important. George Maluleka (who was rumoured to be on his way out too) is important and these are the guys I have been playing with, regardless of what happened.

“I’m an important member of the team. I believe I can help the team and that is what I will do. It has nothing to do with any other person, it is all on me and my teammates and that is all that matters at this moment in time.

“You just have to control what you can control and that is what I have tried to do in my whole career. I don’t like making noise, blaming people – I look at myself and say ‘did I do anything wrong?’”
