Rama – What Chiefs Need To Beat Sekhukhune

Kaizer Chiefs veteran defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele has revealed what his Amakhosi side need to do in order to get maximum points against Sekhukhune United this weekend.

Amakhosi will attempt secure their second win since Arthur Zwane and Dillon Sheppard have replaced Stuart Baxter and need the three points to keep their slim hopes of CAF football alive.

The Glamour Boys currently sit in fourth place with 43 points, two behind third-placed Royal AM, who have a game in hand, and five behind second-placed Cape Town City.

With just two games remaining, Chiefs are running out of time to secure a top four spot, and Mphahlele insists they face another tough challenge on Saturday.

“Training has been going well, we obviously preparing for Sekhukhune away from home,” he told the club’s media department.

“We watched a little bit of the videos and the coaches also told us a bit of their strengths and weaknesses.

“We’re trying to plan for the game, so we can go to Ellis Park and get the result. A very difficult team to play against, who have been doing well.

“We have to be at our best, for us to be able to get maximum points.”

The Chiefs’ stand-in captain, has started seven of the last eight games for his club and insisted his team need to be at their best in order to get three points at the Emirates Airline Park Stadium.

“They have a very experienced team, a very tough team. They play at a very high pace,”

“We have to be strong physically, we have to be able to run more than them. We know that we’re going to be playing away from home and that they’re going to put us under pressure.

“Obviously they have the likes of [Willard] Katsande, who knows the club very well and is probably going to give them inside information.

“We’re confident that we can go there and get the result.”

‘Rama’ also stated that Chiefs want to finish the season as strong as possible and will then see whether it will be enough to play CAF football next season.

“We just want to finish the season on a good note and we know we’ve had a lot of ups and downs as a team and in the past few games we managed to pick up the levels and we were promising,” he added.

“We just want to finish on a high note and win our remaining games and then we can see what happens after that.

“It’s been a long season and we just want to finish on a high.”

The game – like all DStv Premiership matches this weekend – kicks off at 15:00 on Saturday. Fans can get a ticket at Ticketpro for R40.
