Mamelodi Sundowns’ treble-winning campaign has earned them a whopping amount of R43 million in prize money and they are even in line to receive more still.
Masandawana completed their domestic treble on Saturday after beating Marumo Gallants 2-1 in extra-time following Thapelo Morena’s late winning goal.
As a consequence, Downs lifted the DStv Premiership trophy, the MTN8 trophy and the Nedbank Cup trophy.
Of course, all that silverware also come with lofty cheques, which will help the club to further invest into the team.
Saturday’s Nedbank Cup earned them R7 million, while the MTN8 trophy flushed in R8 million.
A further R15 million came from lifted the fifth successive DStv Premiership title, while reaching the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League earned them R10 million.
In addition, Downs also won the Q-Innovation quarter one and two, with each earning them R1.5 million, meaning overall Masandawana have pocketed a whopping R43 million so far.
But that’s not all, they are also in line to get another R1.5 million for winning Q-Innovation quarter four after collecting 14 points in the last seven games of the season. Stellenbosch FC also collected 14 points, but have a worse goal difference of +6 to Downs +8, despite beating them 3-0 in the head-to-head fixture.
