RIP Zondi

Motsepe Foundation Championship side Durban City Football Club have sadly confirmed the passing of their player, Sinamandla Zondi.

The MFC league leaders had a clash against their provincial rivals, Milford FC, on Tuesday evening, when Zondi was reported to have collapsed during the warm-up and was rushed to hospital.

According to the inside information, he was rushed to the hospital, and the game started. Milford took the lead inside the fourth minute via a penalty after Siphamandla Ndlabi converted it.

At halftime, the game was called off after it was announced that unfortunately Zondi had passed away at the age of 22. It is believed that City players will be given some time, and the outcome of the game will be communicated at a later date.

Zondi made his debut as a teenager when the club was known as Maritzburg United in 2021. He featured in 24 games for the club this season.

From everyone at iDiski Times we would like to express our condolences to Zondi’s family, friends and the broader of Durban City fraternity.

City remains top of the Motsepe Foundation Championship league table with 46 points, Kruger United is sitting in second place with 41 points after playing a goalless draw against JDR Stars last Friday.
