SAFA Confirm Exit Of Bafana Assistant

Bafana Bafana assistant coach Cedomir Janevski has left his role with immediate effect.

The 61-year-old was brought in by coach Hugo Broos, who had called Janevski “a close friend” has joined the Bafana technical team in May 2021.

However, he has left his role, as reported by SABC. “He [Broos] is more comfortable in having one assistant. So going forward coach Herman Mkhalele is the only assistant coach,” SAFA CEO Tebogo Motlanthe said during Saturday’s National Executive Meeting.

During Janevski’s time as Bafana assistant, the South African senior men’s national team collected five wins, two draws and three defeats – which have come in the last four games.

Before joining Broos’ coaching staff, Janevski was coaching Olympiakos Nikosia in Cyprus. He was also previously in charge of Club Brugge, with whom he won the Belgium Cup, as well as Red Star Belgrade in Serbia, among others club sides and also coached the Macedonian national team, in the past.
