Orlando Pirates defender Lebone Seema has expressed his gratitude to the club’s fans after picking up his first Man of the Match award.
Seema, 22, has cemented his place in the centre back position alongside Mbekezeli Mbokazi since been snapped up from TS Galaxy at the beginning of the season and has racked up 15 appearances with a single goal in all competitions this season.
He was once again given a starting berth as the Buccaneers rallied from a goal down to earn a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Mamelodi Sundowns.
Seema had a glorius chance to hand Pirates the win on Saturday at Loftus Versfeld after breaking through on goal but opted for personal glory instead of laying off an assist with Ronwen Williams pulling off a superb save.
“We knew that the game would be tough,” he told OP TV.
“Some games we might concede, some games we might not concede, but then even if we conceded it’s up to us to head up and continue marking and playing.
“It’s a first of many [MOTM award] and I’m so happy I got it playing for Pirates.
“Firstly, I want to thank the fans for coming today [Saturday]. We know we’re playing in Pretoria today, we’re not playing at home, so they also important for our game.
“They are the ones that lift us even though we concede, we win, we lose or we draw.
“They are with us throughout, so I’d like to say thank you to them.”
