New Stellenbosch defender Lasse Sobiech has dismissed notions that he is a direct replacement for Zitha Kwinika, who left the club at the end of last season to return to Kaizer Chiefs.
The lanky German defender joined Stellenbosch at the start of the 2022/2023 DStv Premiership campaign and made his debut last week in the derby against Cape Town City.
Sobiech dismissed any notion of being a direct replacement for Kwinika when speaking to David Kappel in the latest edition of iDiskiTimes, saying he is a different kind of player.
“No, not really, mainly because apart from a few highlights, I’ve not seen Zitha play,” Sobiech told iDiski Times. “Hence I’m not in a position to judge his quality but, of course, I heard about his qualities.
“But no, I do my own thing. I’m a different type of player than him and I try to give the team my own stamp. But to say I feel any kind of pressure, no to be honest.”
In this edition of iDiski Times we hear from Kaizer Chiefs legend Bernard Parker after his move from Naturena to TS Galaxy. We also talk to Katlego Otladisa who, among other things, touches on the social media stir he was involved in around transfer rumours. There are also interviews with Bonginkosi Makume and Sobiech, while Pitso Mosimane admits that he would loved to have had the current Mamelodi Sundowns team when he was coaching the team.Read all this and more in the full edition below:
