Struggling Bay Promote Four Players

Richards Bay, instead of signing experienced players in the PSL topflight to save their status, have promoted four players from their DStv Diski Challenge team.

These players are striker Ntlonelo Bomelo, central midfielder Thandoluhle Gazu, attacking midfielder Siphesihle Buthelezi and Sanele Zulu, who is a centre-back.

These players have been handed a five-year contract each, the KwaZulu-Natal club have announced.

“We wish them well,” added the club’s statement.

Bay, who are second from bottom in the table with 13 points after 16 matches in the DStv Premiership, have only signed one player which was Khuda Muyaba, who was previously at Polokwane City, in the January transfer window that was closed on Friday.

The Malawi international centre forward will be at the club until the end of the season.

Bay, who are featuring in their second season in the topflight after they gained PSL promotion in 2022, have had a tough campaign.

They have scored just 13 goals, conceding 20 in the process along with three wins. They will resume the DStv Premiership when they visit Polokwane City on a Valentine’s Day after the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
