Sundowns Announce XI To Face Swallows

Mamelodi Sundowns have announced their starting XI to face Moroka Swallows in the DStv Premiership this evening – even though the PSL announced earlier that the Dube Birds were unable to fulfil the fixture.

Masandawana were supposed to face Swallows at Loftus Versfeld this evening, but the PSL confirmed Swallows were unable to honour the game.

“The Premier Soccer League has been officially notified today that Moroka Swallows Football Club is unable to fulfil its scheduled DStv Premiership fixtures against Mamelodi Sundowns on 27 December 2023, and Lamontville Golden Arrows on 30 December 2023,” the PSL stated.

“The League extends its sincere apologies to all stakeholders, including clubs, partners, media and spectators, for this unfortunate situation.”

Swallows then released a statement, citing an “unresolved dispute between players and management” as reason why the club sent in a request for the game – as well as the fixture against Golden Arrows – to be called off.

With no clarity on the situation, it seems Sundowns are following procedures as normal by naming their line-up and being at the stadium.

Sundowns XI: Williams, Mudau, Modiba, Kekana, Coetzee, Mokoena, Allende, Maseko, Zwane, Ribeiro, Shalulile

Subs: D. Onyango, Mvala, Mashego, Morena, Mkhulise, Aubass, Nkosi, Sirino, Nku

The game will ultimately end up before the PSL DC but should be ruled in Sundowns favour with a 3-0 score-line.
