Tinkler Aims To End Winless Run

Cape Town City head coach Eric Tinkler aims to end their four-match winless run when they face AmaZulu this coming weekend.

City started the DStv Premiership season with two wins out of two matches and it all looked promising as they were going into their MTN8 quarterfinal clash against Kaizer Chiefs.

But things turned sour after they got knocked out of the MTN8 as they faced Supersport United and lost by 1-0. Five days later they lost to Sekhukhune United in Cape Town, which was something that hadn’t happened often. Six days later Orlando Pirates made it four losses in a row.

The former Bafana Bafana mentioned that they will have to face a well-motivated Usuthu after their narrow win against TS Galaxy before the international break.

“We’re playing AmaZulu away from home. They’re obviously come away from a positive result against TS Galaxy [and] we come off a negative result,” Tinkler told CT City media.

“Now it’s about us applying ourselves correctly ensuring that we trying to get back to the winning ways.

“It’s gonna be a tough match, it’s gonna be an aggressive match. We need to make sure that we win all our duels.

“But very, very important that we go out there and play our brand of football, show a lot of positivity and a winning mentality.”

City have dropped to 13th on the log, while AmaZulu sit in 14th with both level on six points after five matches.
