Victor Gomes To Officiate CAFCL Final

South African referee Victor Gomes has once again given a huge backing by the Confederation of African Football after it was confirmed that he will take charge of the CAF Champions League final between Al Ahly and Wydad Athletic Club.

Gomes has been widely acclaimed over the past few years on the continent and was rewarded this year’s Africa Cup of Nations final alongside fellow South African assistant referee Zakhele Siwela.

The South African referee wrote worldwide headlines during the final after seen offering Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah his whistle and yellow card following continuous attempts by the player to speak to the match official.

The game will take place on Monday, 30 May at the Stade Mohamed V in Morocco – a decision which has been widely criticised because it gives Moroccan giants Wydad a home advantage.
