Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has praised Ashley Du Preez for his match-winning goal against Chippa United and his superb form off late.
The Chiefs’ No. 9 scored the only goal of the game with a superb individual second-half strike to hand Amakhosi all three points at a packed Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Thursday afternoon.
After the match, Zwane was full of praise for Du Preez, saying he’s hit form at the right time to help the club get important points.
“We need that [individual brilliance]. That’s the only way you can unlock opposition defence line,” Zwane told Julia Stuart on SuperSport TV.
“Ash is one of the top players that we rely on and he’s been doing very well. He’s been scoring crucial goals at the right time and I’m happy for him as well and his confidence as well, it will grow.
“The more he scores goals like this, then the team will know we will do better. It will also help other players who are still trying to find their feet.”
Chiefs moved to 44 points on the log, two behind third-placed Orlando Pirates, who have a game in hand, and three behind third-placed SuperSport United.
