Sundowns Defender Named In CWC Team Of The Week

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Divine Lunga has been named in the Sofascore FIFA Club World Cup Team of the Week, along with six Bayern Munich players.

With the first round of the Club World Cup matches being wrapped up, there have been many outstanding performances from players across the tournament, and the biggest one was the 10-0 win of Bayern Munich against New Zealand side Auckland City.

From an African perspective, the highlight of the first round was Sundowns becoming the only African side to score and managing to collect three points, beating South Korean giants Ulsan HD.

Divine Lunga had an outstanding display in that game, which saw him receive an 8.0 Sofascore rating. In addition he was named in the Team of the Week, alongside Nicolas Otamendi, Sergio Ramos and Sacha Boey.

Lunga is also the only African player to have made the Sofascore selection, which includes eight players based in Europe, Inter Miami goalkeeper Oscar Ustari, who saved a penalty against Al Ahly, and CF Monterrey’s Sergio Ramos.

Michael Olise and Thomas Muller were the only two players to receive a perfect 10.0 rating in the first round of matches.
