Four-time world champions Germany have announced their squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, including the surprise return of Manuel Neuer.
Neuer, 40, had retired from international football after the 2024 UEFA European Championship, but now returns to the squad for a first time after a stellar season with Bayern Munich.

Germany have been drawn in Group E alongside Curacao, Ivory Coast and Ecuador – Die Mannschaft will kick off their tournament on 14 June against Curacao.
Other notable names in the squad include Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich and Jamal Musiala, Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger, Liverpool’s Florian Wirtz and Arsenal’s Kai Havertz.
Eighteen-year-old Lennart Karl is the youngest player in the squad after a stunning breakout season at Bayern, while Said El Mala – another teenage sensation of the Bundesliga season – was not included in Nagelsmann’s list.
Germany will start their pre-World Cup camp on 27 May before traveling to their base camp in Chicago on 2 June.
