Neymar & Rulani Preview Club World Cup

Brazilian superstar Neymar and Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena were among a group of representatives from qualified clubs who previewed the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

On Saturday, it was exactly one year before the 2025 tournament in the United States kicks off, with Sundowns among the four African team to have qualified.

Mokwena says he’s excited by the prospect of sharing the stage with some of the world’s biggest clubs, which put Masandawana further on the global map.

“The club wants to not only be one of the best clubs in the African continent but of course [also] from a global perspective, and the reach is unbelievable,” he told FIFA.

“If the team has that type of reach only based on performances on the pitch you can just imagine we scale into the Club World Cup space how much potential does this football club have.”

Among others to preview the tournament was Brazil superstar Neymar, who will take part in the tournament with Saudi Pro League champions Al Hilal, who qualified for winning the 2021 AFC Champions League.

“It’s an honor for me to play the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, defending Al-Hilal,” he stated.

“The best clubs in the world and the best athletes in the world will be there, and obviously this is the place where Al-Hilal and my team-mates should be.

“The expectations for the tournament are huge and I’m sure that we’ll be ready to represent our fans.”

The draw for the Club World Cup is yet to be conducted with 29 of the 32 partaking teams confirmed, while three spots from the CONMEBOL (2) and CONCACAF (1) regions are still outstanding.
