Amajimbos, South Africa’s U17 national team, have announced their squad for the U17 FIFA World Cup.
The preparation of our boys is understood to have been a turmoil, with the late announcement of the squad a sign of what’s been happening behind the scenes.
Vela Khumalo’s team were drawn in Group A and will face hosts Qatar, Italy and Bolivia – none of the teams in Group A were at the last U17 World Cup in 2023.
This is only South Africa’s fourth time into the knockout stages at AFCON as they are also off to the World Cup for the first time since 2015.
A record 10 African nations from the tournament will qualify for the 48-team 2025 FIFA Under-17 World Cup that will be staged in Qatar from 3-27 November, 2025.
