2023 FIFA CWC Hosts Confirmed, More African Teams From 2025

It has been confirmed that Saudi Arabia will host the next FIFA Club World Cup in December 2023, while from 2025 four African teams will take part.

UEFA Champions League winners Real Madrid were crowned champions in the latest tournament that took place in Morocco after beating Al Hilal 5-2 in the final.

It was one of the rare occasions where the African continent had two teams participating teams in the competition, with Wydad Athletic Club as host and Al Ahly qualifying as CAF Champions League runners-up after losing to Wydad in the final.

This week, FIFA confirmed that Saudi Arabia will host the 2023 showpiece between 12 and 22 December, which will still be played in the current format.

Whoever wins the current CAF Champions League will go represent Africa in the tournament, while Africa will have four participants from 2025 onwards. The first extended edition will take place in June-July 2025.

In two year’s time, 32 teams will participate in the FIFA Club World and slots were allocated according to the strengths of the continents, with Europe receiving the most with 12 slots.
