Al Ahly president Mahmoud El-Khatib held a meeting with the squad and technical staff amid their indifferent run of form in the Egyptian Premier League.
El-Khatib called the meeting with the planning committee a the club’s headquarters in Gezira, Cairo this week, initially without the presence of head coach Pitso Mosimane.
According to a statement from the club he first met with Mohsen Saleh and Zakaria Nassef to address the poor run of form that’s seen Zamalek overtake them in the league title race.
Board member and Ahly legend Hossam Ghaly and Director of Football Sayed Abdelhafiz were also called him before the team meeting with the players at the iconic Mokhtar El Tetsh stadium.
It’s been claimed ‘Bibo’ issued the players a sober warning of what the club provides the team in order to achieve success but with one goal scored and no wins in three domestic outings, he insisted they need to buck up their ideas to challenge for the coveted league title.
With games coming in thick and fast amid the CAF Champions League semi-final against ES Setif coming up this weekend – it was made clear the recent continental success should not be the reason for the lack of determination to dethrone the White Knights for the league.
