Eto’o Submits Candidacy For Presidency
African football legend Samuel Eto’o officially filed his candidacy for the presidency of the Cameroon Football Association (Fecafoot) on Wednesday.
The four-time African Footballer of the Year has long expressed his desire to move into football administration and he stated that he would be the ‘next president despite the cheating’.
Cheered on by thousands of supporters at the federations’ headquarters in Yaounde he sent a message saying it was ‘time to rebuild’ Cameroon football after rejecting a role as vice-president from the current leadership.
“I will be the next president of the federation despite all the cheating,” the 40-year-old told reporters, as per Africa Intelligence.
Up against Seidou Mbombo Njoya, the man who won the 2018 elections which were annulled in January this year by The Court of Arbitration for Sport and was described as a ‘failure’ by the former FC Barcelona striker.
The upcoming elections will be held in December, just one month prior to their hosting of the Africa Cup of Nations.
