FIFA Ranking After AFCON Revealed

Several African nations have made big jumps in the latest FIFA rankings following their performances at the African Cup of Nations.

Newly crowned African champions Senegal moved into 18th place, their highest ever position on the rankings.

Meanwhile, runners-up Egypt climbed 11 spots into 34th position and third-placed Cameroon moved up 12 spots into 38th spot.

However, Morocco in 24th and Nigeria in 32nd are the second and third-highest ranked teams on the continent.

Tunisia sit in 36, while 2019 AFCON winners Algeria have dropped to 43rd spot. Mali are the eighth CAF nation inside the 50 highest ranked nations, sitting in 48th position.

Meanwhile, Hugo Broos’ Bafana Bafana have remained unchanged in 12th place after having to watch the AFCON from the couch.

The biggest jump of all this month was made by Gambia, with the Scorpions ascending 25 places in 125th position following their run to the quarter-finals at the AFCON.

Belgium have stayed at the top of the ranking, followed by Brazil and France.
