Official: Raja Sack Coach After 10 Games
Raja Athletic Club have sacked Lassaad Chabbi as head coach and are expected to unveil former Belgium manager Marc Wimots as his successor.
Chabbi, who won the CAF Confederation Cup last season, lasted just ten games into the 2021/22 campaign with six wins, three draws and one defeat – which leaves them five points behind fierce rivals Wydad Athletic Club.
The 60-year-old Tunisian was given the mandate of winning the Botola Pro after they lost the title to their city rivals in 2020/21 but the indifferent start to the new season has now seen the club terminate his contract with immediate effect.
According to HesSport, the Moroccan giants are set to unveil Marc Wilmots as the club’s next tactician.
His only previous experience of working in Africa was an ill-fated six-month stint with the Ivory Coast national team.
However, the two-time Belgian Sports Coach of the Year is still held in high regard from his nine-year stint with the national team before being replaced by Roberto Martinez.
Raja are one of the 16 sides that have qualified for the group stage of the CAF Champions League this season.
