Simba Sports Club have terminated the contract of head coach Pablo Franco Martin with immediate effect of their Kariakoo Derby defeat this weekend.
The former Real Madrid assistant coach is highly regarded and was lauded for their performances en route to the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-finals, which was eventually ended by Orlando Pirates.

However, it’s been the notable struggles competing against their fierce rivals that’s seen Simba pull the plug on his tenure within his first season in charge, in the aftermath of the Azam Sports Federation Cup defeat at hands of Young Africans on Saturday afternoon.
Despite his reputation and notable improvements in their tactical approach to games, the results weren’t forthcoming, highlighted by the 1-0 defeat and trailing Yanga by 13 points in the Liga Kuu Bara standings with five rounds of fixtures remaining.
Their elimination meant the East African giants would end the season trophyless, which is a first since the 2016/17 season and clearly unacceptable for the club’s hierarchy leading to his exit on Tuesday.
