Pitso Tests Positive For Covid-19

Al Ahly have suffered another major blow ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup after Pitso Mosimane tested positive for Covid-19.

The South African coach and his team traveled to the United Arab Emirates ahead of their Club World Cup clash against CONCACAF representatives Monterrey.

However, Mosimane will now likely miss the important clash after testing positive for Covid-19.

The news were announced by the club on Wednesday. Mosimane is currently isolating in his room and has no symptoms at all.

Al Ahly team doctor Abu Abla said that “Mosimane underwent another COVID-19 test today (Wednesday) and added that “our coach’s condition is stable and he is currently self-isolating”.

The news come as the latest blow in Ahly’s CWC preparations after Percy Tau was already ruled out with an injury, joining Akram Tawfik, Salah Mohsen and Badr Benoun on the treatment table.

In addition, the likes of Mohamed El-Shennawy, Ayman Ashraf, Mohamed Abdelmoneim, Hamdi Fathi, Amr El-Sulya, and Mohamed Sherif will all miss Ahly’s first match at the tournament because they are still at the African Cup of Nations with Egypt.

Al Ahly are scheduled to face Monterrey on Saturday, 5 February at 18:30.
