Egypt head coach Carlos Queiroz has dropped Al Ahly star Mohamed Magdy Asfha from their final 25-man squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
Afsha and Zamalek midfielder Tarek Hamed has notably fallen out of favour in the national team since the appointment of the former Bafana Bafana boss – who’s risked the wrath of the footballing loving nation.
The two firm fan favourites along with Ahmed Hassan Kouka and Ahmed Yasser Rayan were excluded from the final list of players led by Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah.
The Pharaohs are in Group D alongside Guinea-Bissau, Nigeria and Sudan and kick off their tournament on 11 January against the Super Eagles.
