Nigeria are not favourites to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, according to Ghana interim coach Otto Addo ahead of the second-leg tie.

The Black Stars and the Super Eagles played to a 0-0 draw at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Friday evening leaving the blockbuster clash between two of Africa’s giants evenly poised.

In what was Oddo’s first game in charge under new leadership since their group stage exit during AFCON 2021 in Cameroon, the former Borussia Dortmund coach believes they have the upper hand.

“The result doesn’t change anything. When we go there we want to win,” he said, as per BBC Football.

“Even though our Africa Cup of Nations was not good this year, you saw we matched Nigeria in the first leg. So I don’t see them as favourites, the pressure will be on them at home and away goals can hurt a lot.

“They have high quality players but they’ve got respect for us and I thought the match in Kumasi was equal in terms of performance.”

The second leg will take place at the Abuja National Stadium in Nigeria on Tuesday evening at 19h30.
