Akonnor Makes Bold Bafana Statement

Ghana head coach Charles Akonnor says they are in South Africa to collect three points, and says they have a strategy in place to achieve this goal.

Ghana won their opening World Cup qualifier 1-0 at home against Ethiopia, but there were many Ghanaians who were not happy with their performance.

Akonnor, however, says they were efficient and will not be distracted from their target.

“I mean what is important is that we have to be efficient,” Akonnor said in the build-up to the game.

“Against Ethiopia, we didn’t excite you guys but we were efficient because we won, and as it stands now we are on top.

“We won’t allow the influence of pressure, or whoever is making the comments, anything, to disturb us.

“Like I said, we are focused, we are here, we’ve seen South Africa against Zimbabwe, we have a strategy and we believe that it will work.

“Even if they change their style of play, we will find an antidote to it and we will move out of this place with the three points.”
