Khama Billiat was the only PSL player to be named in the CAF Champions League Team of the Week, after his heroics helped Kaizer Chiefs to qualify for their first-ever quarter-finals.
The 30-year-old made his first appearance in this season’s group stage and scored the all-important 2-2 equalizer against Horoya that put Chiefs above the Guinean giants in Group C.
As a consequence, he was named in CAF’s official Champions League Team of the Week. Meanwhile, there were no Mamelodi Sundowns stars for a first time this campaign after their 2-0 defeat to Belouizdad.
The Algerian side, however, had three players in the team after ending Downs unbeaten home run in the competition.
Goalkeeper Toufik Moussaoui, centre-back Sofiane Bouchar and attacking midfielder Amir Sayoud all made the selection, with the latter even named CAFCL Player of the Week.
Zamalek also have three players in the team, namely: Mahmoud Hamdi, Shikabala and Marwan Hamdy, after their 4-1 drubbing over Teungueth, which wasn’t enough to put them into the last-eight.
TP Mazembe’s Issama Mpeko, Horoya midfielder Seyei Sebe Baffour, AS Vita forward Fiston Mayele and Wydad striker Mohamed Ounajem complete the Team of the Week.
