Bafana Bafana forward Luther Singh has been hospitalised and looks set to be ruled out for the remainder of 2021, according to FC Copenhagen head coach Jess Thorup.

On Saturday it was confirmed that Singh had been hospitalised through illness with the club not revealing any further details and insisting no further comments will be made to the media.

Thorup reiterated the stance this weekend after their 0-0 draw with Silkeborg in the Danish Superlig claiming the matter will remain internal but it has been a long-standing issue they are aiming to resolve.

“No, I can not. I think we keep it internally, but what I can say is that on our trip to Greece, additional symptoms arose in relation to some disease, and therefore they chose to admit Luther for further observation and examination. What has come out of it, I can not say more about,” he said, as per Bold DK.

“I can not say much other than that he is being examined, and then we have to see what the outcome will be. He has been under observation for a long time, and at some point, you reach a stage where it is said that now we have to have further examinations, and therefore our doctor chose to hospitalise him.

“There is nothing more dramatic in it, other than that we have to be sure of what it is we have to deal with. That is why we have left it to the hospital system.”

Without directly confirming it, Thorup suggested they made not see him in action again this year and will focus on ‘him getting well and ready again’ more than when he can return.

Singh joined the 13-time Danish league champions from SC Braga in the off-season in a reported R25-million transfer and was handed the iconic number seven shirt.
