FC Barcelona are not taking their loss against rivals Real Madrid lightly, and have reportedly sent an official complaint to the Spanish FA regarding the referee.
The Catalans went down 3-1 to Los Blancos over the weekend, with a controversial penalty being one of the talking points in the game.
Barca coach Ronald Koeman spoke about the officiating after the game during his press conference, and now reports from Spain claim that there are ties between the official, Martinez Munuera, and Real Madrid.
As Sport explain, the referee’s father, Juan Ramon, is said to be the founder of Los Amigos de Benidorm – a Real Madrid fan club. It has also been reported that Ramon would wear his Real shirt under his official uniform while refereeing in the Spanish third division!
Although Munuera himself is not directly linked with Los Blancos, there is cause for concern if his direct family are die-hard supporters of the club, and Barca are said to be furious with the situation, which is why an official complaint was submitted.
