Baxter Will Coach Chiefs In CAFCL Final
Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that Stuart Baxter will be on the bench for the CAF Champions League final against Al Ahly.
The 67-year-old joined Amakhosi a few weeks ago but was still waiting his work permit. It seems he has received it as he was addressing media ahead of Saturday’s final.
In the interim, Arthur Zwane and Dillon Sheppard had guided the team past Wydad Casablanca in the semi-final and Chiefs did not give any further update on Baxter’s situation.
However, on Friday he addressed the media in his pre-match press conference, confirming he will take charge of his first game on the sidelines against Al Ahly.
“This is the first game on the bench,” Baxter said.
“I’ve been with the club for a few months, so I’ve been working with the players but being on the bench is special and this game is special.
“I think the players have worked very hard in their preparations. We’ve had a lot of challenges but the players have managed and surprised everybody.
“Do we have one more surprise left in us, we’ll see on the night.”
